Best Riesling in the Finger Lakes, New York (ok there isn't just one)
The Finger Lakes region in New York State is home to many excellent Rieslings, and it is difficult to determine a single "best" Riesling. However, here are some of the top-rated Rieslings from the Finger Lakes, according to various wine critics and publications:
Dr. Konstantin Frank Dry Riesling: This Riesling from Dr. Konstantin Frank Winery is widely considered to be one of the best in the Finger Lakes. It is a bone-dry Riesling with bright acidity and notes of green apple and citrus. You're going to see this on all the wine lists in the U.S. and beyond.
Hermann J. Wiemer Dry Riesling: Hermann J. Wiemer is another top producer of Riesling in the Finger Lakes, and their dry Riesling is a standout. It is crisp and refreshing with notes of lemon and lime. SO good, award winning. Hard to get a reservation.
Ravines Wine Cellars Dry Riesling: This dry Riesling from Ravines Wine Cellars is another top-rated wine from the Finger Lakes. It has a bright acidity and flavors of green apple, pear, and citrus.
Boundary Breaks Dry Riesling: This dry Riesling from Boundary Breaks is known for its minerality and complex flavors. It has notes of stone fruit, honey, and a hint of petrol. Love the winery itself - very casual. I've never been turned away due to lack of reservation (reservations are not my thing, if you can tell, lol)
Red Newt Cellars Dry Riesling: Red Newt Cellars is another top producer of Riesling in the Finger Lakes, and their dry Riesling is a favorite among wine critics. It is bright and lively with notes of green apple, citrus, and a touch of honey.
The Finger Lakes is known for producing many excellent Rieslings, and these are just a few examples of the top-rated wines.
All that said, my personal favorite way to experience Finger Lakes wine is to do tasting after tasting, until I fall in love with some weird wine that no one else knows about. So you could also do that...
